As a Queens native, Flushing Meadows Park holds a very special place in my heart. When I was young, I recall warm Sunday nights in the park, cooking barbecue dinners with my big, Colombian family. It’s where I learned how to ride a bike and roller skate. And it’s where I hope my boys will do the same.

I especially love the Unisphere in the center of the park. It’s perhaps the best Queens landmark: you can see this enormous globe from every highway, regardless of direction, and even in the air while arriving into Laguardia or JFK. I used to play in the Unisphere, jumping through the enormous water fountains, which shoot water up to 20 feet high.

Needless to say, bringing my boys to Flushing Meadows Park was truly heartwarming. Unfortunately, because the trip was totally spontaneous, the boys couldn’t run through the fountain like I once did – I didn’t bring them a change of clothes!

Growing up, I was a total tomboy. Believe it or not, I wore baggy jeans and classic sneakers all through my teen years! Today, when I dress my boys, I’ve noticed that I tend to emulate that style. By now, you should all know that I love shoes and sneakers. And the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – my boys love sneakers too! Pictured here, Chase is wearing Air Jordan Retro 11’s and Matteo is wearing classic Adidas Stan Smiths. And in honor of the summer weather, both outfits are very soft, lightweight and super trendy! My boys love graphics on their clothing, so I shop brands like Nununu, Mini Rodini, and Mimobee. These brands are cool and comfortable; they know how to craft perfect children’s clothes, without compromising style.
